Members of the Month - January 2009

Tammy Le | Los Angeles

As the co-founder of LOVEMADE -- with partner and fellow LLLA chapter organizer Linda --Tammy Le (AKA, Tammy Lovemade) is truly a party machine. Throughout the year she and Linda crank out events that make Angelenos get up off their asses and move!

Don't let the cute face and great style fool you, Tammy's a triple threat; responsible for LOVEMADE's marketing, PR and events. What did you expect from a lady who graduated with a BA in business administration and marketing from CSU Fullerton?

Prior to LOVEMADE, Tammy worked for a marketing firm, casted music videos including Janet Jackson's "So Excited" and Outkast's "Don't Chu Worry."

If you ever feel the need to live vicariously through Tammy and her crew, take a gander at the LOVEMADE blog or listen to some tracks from her personal playlist:

Erica Zelaya | Seattle

Erica Zelaya's a bit like Helen of Troy but instead of launching ships, she's launched some of the biggest things to hit the gaming world. Erica's 10+ years of experience in merchandising, communications and events has contributed to Xbox's video game domination. She gives good press; Xbox LIVE, Xbox 360, Gears of War and Ninja Gaiden II have made their way to premier news outlets on Erica's watch.

In addition to launching games, she helps to keep them afloat by managing several video game trade shows including Leipzig, E3, and the Tokyo Game Show.

When she's not busy figuring out ways to distract our men (and women) with action-filled gorefests, she enjoys traveling to locales including Tokyo, London, New York, Paris, Frankfurt and Mexico City; where she enjoys sampling their culture and cuisine. Some of her favorite spots are Il Barrio Latino (Paris), See Sound (Seattle), Koi (LA) and Why Curry (New York).

Erica is known for never passing up a good deal on designer shoes and loves playing with make-up even when she's not modeling or acting. When Erica feels like making a little trouble her partner in crime is usually Ladies Lotto's chapter organizer Sarah Hunt. No matter what Erica's doing, she's got game!

Dove Clark | New York

What do you do when you've got $150 left to your name after a cross-country move in 2004; a solid background in business and nightlife; and mad love for independent hip hop? If you're Dove Clark, you're going to start PR, marketing and multimedia firm Tygereye Entertainment and rep an eclectic array of artists.

Luckily her previous roles as
Alternatives Editor for AllHipHop.com, and Senior Editor for RIME Magazine helped prepare her for her dream job. In addition to editing she's also written for Elemental Magazine, YRB Magazine, Ozone Magazine and more.

Dove has worked with hip hop artists including the ballin
Jim Jones, Cipha Sounds, The Rock Steady Crew, the DipSkate team, Jeru The Damaja and she of the massive neck, back and crack pains; Khia. Current clients include Amadeus, Jacki-O, Jah Cure, Archie Eversole, Urban Mystic, Jamie Jones, Nu Jerzey Devil, J the S, Illogic, David RUSH, E.S.G. and Sally Anthony.

Tygereye has been an incredibly successful venture thus far, and there's more to come in the future. Dove's going to keep rising to the top cause there 'aint no half stepping for this hip hop head!

Yemisi Odedina | Chicago

Yemisi (pictured at left, with LLCHI chapter organizer Susan Morgan) has been down with Ladies Lotto's Chicago chapter since day one. She frequently serves as Susan's finance fairy godmother at LLCHI events.

After receiving a degree in business administration in finance from HBCU, Howard University, Yemisi landed an account manager position at media planning agency, Starcom Worldwide. Yemisi's major client is insurance giant, Allstate. Through Starcom Worldwide's leveraging of print, television and other media, Allstate was able to reposition itself as a trusted and relevant service.

Throughout the course of her life, Yemisi's realized she's cut out for more than the major listed on her degree. She'd like to continue exploring her interests including financial planning, travel, music, fashion, health awareness and community service.

Holy six degrees of separation! Tammy casted Janet Jackson's "So Excited" video which features Dove's former client Khia.

Thanks Emily for being the woman of music in Ladies Lotto!! =)

Ce Ce Chin, New York

Chapter: LL NY

Photobucket

Ce Ce Chin is an accessories designer who's quickly becoming known for her signature cocktail of major label craft and street level attitude. Chin moved to NY in 1994, and cut her teeth designing for powerhouses like Calvin Klein and Michael Kors. But all along, she felt that something was missing.

That something was the perfect shoe. Sure there were shoes out there, but none of them were just right. This one was too-boyish-- that one felt (and looked) like a bed of nails. Where was that Goldilocks shoe that was playfully comfortable and still makes you feel flirty... and sexy? Since she couldn't find it, she decided to make it herself. So three years ago, Chin burst on the scene with 80%20, her footwear company. Chin has had runaway success with her signature hidden wedge, which garnered retail attention from leaders such as Isetan Japan and American Rag in Los Angeles. The shoe has been featured in such magazines such as Nylon, Teen Vogue, Lucky and Vivi Japan.

In the boys club of mammoth footwear corporations, Chin's story read like David vs. Goliath. Of course you can't go wrong with a great idea. The ideology behind 80%20 came from her observation that we tend to wear our favorite 20% of our wardrobe 80%2 of the time- and these are definitely part of the 20% you can't live without.

Thanks Ce Ce –your talents amaze us all! :)

If you guys see any of these ladies walking down the street, go and take them out to dinner because they deserve it!! :)

MEMBER OF THE MONTH - January 2008

Rene Levy
Brooklyn, NY

Rene grew up in North Miami & Jamaica. As a full-time student, full-time employed Make-Up Artist, Event Planner & Ladies Lotto NY's Meeting Coordinator you could say Rene's a little busy. She's been in the service industry ever since she could smile. Helping with the family business at a young age gave her a drive that could not be taught, only nurtured. This is what started a certain work ethic that can only be described as dedicated.

Previous to her move to New York over 5 years ago, Rene ran a field marketing team geared towards the urban music scene. Her clients included but were not limited to Rawcus Records, Electra Records & Rough World Entertainment. During that time she landed a well coveted job assisting a major make up artist (we don't drop names) on the set of music videos, from there she has blossomed into the creative genius she is today. Rene kept a hand in the service industry as a bartender or server to maintain between projects. She is known to be resourceful and a great proactive problem solver - always on top of the game. She takes pride in being a fast learner and thinking one step ahead. She currently juggles motherhood while venturing out into event planning along with pursuing her B.A. in advertising.

Side note: If not for Rene's dedication to Ladies Lotto NY, we'd be in some serious trouble! So thank you so much for your hard work Rene! xo

MEMBERS OF THE MONTH - NOVEMBER 2007

Starting November 2007, Ladies Lotto will be recognizing its members in NYC, LA, MTL and in the diaspora. After all, it's these women who make it all happen. If you would like to be considered or have a lovely lady to nominate, please contact us!

This month we're honoring two key members.

SANDRA MIHALENKO, Brooklyn, NY
Chapter: LLNY

During Sandra's 15-year career she's been a photographer, shark researcher, fashion marketer (many times over), a pop culture sales person, problem solver and friend. Past employers include Meltin Pot and Tokion Magazine just to name a few. Currently she works as Business Development Guru at GEN ART, an organization that supports film, fashion, music and visual arts.

Sandra's been apart of Ladies Lotto since the beginning! She was present at the first meeting in 2006 and has played an important role from PR for our benefit for Planned Parenthood to helping create structure for Ladies Lotto. What makes her so amazing is her need to strive for balance between the professional and personal - she's into yoga, cooking and a good laugh with her friends. She feeds her creative side with photo projects, learning video technique and building a website to showcase her art (can't wait to see it). Special thanks to her husband Chris and her big fat cat Nipper (we've got to find a photo). She recently moved to Brooklyn and can do an incredible impression of a yuppy Brooklynite. Thank you for being apart of Ladies Lotto!
