The Hookup for Your Handbag

When Farvardin Fathi (Fafa)’s sister’s Birkin purse was stolen from the back of a chair she was sitting on, the ESMOD International in Paris & Parsons in NYC trained designer was faced with a challenge: how to keep handbags safe & clean.

After two years collaborating with San Francisco based engineering firm Think2Build, Fafa designed The Hookup. This heart shaped beauty, which comes in gold and silver, can hold up to 30 lbs (and we all carry a lot in our handbags). Plus, the cute heart shape doesn't look so bad on hanging your purse or you can keep it in its customized bag. This is a really good gift idea, take note!!

Where Fashion Meets Fabulous: Harriet's Alter Ego

Beyond offering the worldly woman wildly fashionable clothing and accessories you'd-sell-your-soul-for, Harriet’s Alter Ego can pamper her body with natural body care products, enlighten her mind with art featured in their gallery, ease her spirit through yoga classes and reprieves in the boutiques garden as well as dress the men in her life.

For owners Hekima Hapa and Ngozi Odita, Harriet’s is the idea that fashion should be functional. For their faithful following, however, Harriet’s is a way of life. And although each year their line and boutique concept continually evolves, Harriet’s approach has remained unconventionally classic. A testament to time well spent and design well done.

Harriet’s Alter Ego, truly a lifestyle brand where fashion imitates life.

Harriet's supports clean water in Africa, and you should too! Click here!

A (Much Needed) Peace Treaty

Friends Farah Malik and Dana Arbib created A Peace Treaty using the juxtaposition of their differing backgrounds (Malik is a Pakistani Muslim and Arbib a Libyan Jew) and their shared interest in high-fashion and ancient craftsmanship. It is an evolving collection aimed at creating beautiful, ethically produced, artisan-level accessories and apparel.

We are so excited to have this exquisite stole shown above at our Charity Water Auction! It has red, green, clementine, purple, and blue stripes with silver tila yarn detail. It measures 80x42" and is hand-loomed in 100% cotton.

Salvor Projects

Salvor Projects is an intriguing graphic project which began in a basement studio below the sidewalk on Prince Street right off the Bowery.

In the early 80's Salvor Projects brain, Ross Menuez, spent time in Nicaragua building cement and earth pre-fab houses for the Sandinistas. Upon his return to New York, Menuez jumped into sculpture using found industrial materials which led to a decade of designing furniture, lighting and interiors in the US, Japan and the UK. His bags are a reflection of the eclectic style he's developed over the years.
"I think the strong pull we experience when we find the "right" bag is primal" says Menuez. "Going back a few eons to our nomadic days our survival most likely depended on a good bag. The home you carried on your back."

In addition to bags, Salvor Projects produces a small line of scarves, dresses, belts and outerwear for men and women. Sold at Barney's and Dover Street Market, you can view their whole line at SalvorProjects.com.
