Know This: The New Tax Man

Ladies - this is going to creep its ugly head in your life sooner or later. Read about what bailed-out banks are up to now: Quietly buying up tax debt and threatening homeowners with foreclosure. One woman lost a home with a paid-off mortgage -- over a $362 water bill. Story is by Huffington Post Investigative Fund

US Tax Cuts, Expiration Dates And Fareed Zakaria

The US is up shit's creek - thanks to eight oppressive years under the BUSH regime and its policy we're in the worst off financially than we've been in for nearly half a century.

Republicans are bitching about lowering the deficit yet they are against allowing Bush tax cuts for America's wealthy to expire (just to let you know nearly HALF of Americans do not pay income tax). Allowing these tax cuts to expire across the board would lessen the deficit by 30% (yes, that's 3-0 percent) and take us back to a similar taxing system as the Clinton Admin (which saw the budget balanced for the first time in 40 years as well as a economic surplus - think Prada, Gucci and Chanel for daaaaysss).

Watch CNN's Fareed Zakaria's take on what America should be doing (following in the steps of Great Britain)-

Please watch this and spread the word. Inform and empower yourself because it's taking a toll on ALL OF US.

Student Loan Overhaul

How many of you out there have student loans? I'm sure there are several who do. A little info for you who currently have loans, are thinking about taking on loans and/or will have future children who will attend university -
Since the bank-based loan program began in 1965, commercial banks like Sallie Mae and Nelnet have received guaranteed federal subsidies to lend money to students, with the government assuming nearly all the risk. Democrats have long denounced the program, saying it fattened the bottom line for banks at the expense of students and taxpayers.
Ending one of the fiercest lobbying fights in Washington, Congress voted 2 weeks ago to force commercial banks out of the federal student loan market, cutting off billions of dollars in profits in a sweeping restructuring of financial-aid programs and redirecting most of the money to new education initiatives.
