Whiskey A Go-Go

Whiskey isn't just for the gents. Ladies, step your bartender game up with this libation. At approximately 60 calories per shot, you can slip this warm winter wonder into a night out and feel good. Take the cold as an opportunity to sip on whiskey neat or add an ice cube. Some our favorite whiskeys include:
  • Revel Stoke Canadian Spiced Whiskey is at the top of the list for a reason. It's fairly new and not widely distributed but if you can get your hands on it, you'll be pleasantly satisfied.
  • Bushmills Whiskey's latest campaign tactic was tapping into the cool guys from Fools Gold and DFA Records amongst others. The sponsored Bushmills parties popped up and so we gave it a try and scored with Bushmills Black & 16.
  • Crown Royal. Purple velvet bag you kept weed in. 'Nough said.

Pop! Pop! Pop!

It's no secret that I love Champagne. Vodka is for the long haul, rum is fun in the sun, whiskey is for colder nights and wine is a staple.

Something about Champagne or sparkling wine creates a mood, an overtone that is a perfect blend of fun and sophistication (read: I'm serious about my champers). Champagne opens the palate, allows for the taste buds to become readily available to the world, which is why its consumption should occur prior to a meal and not left just for celebration. In fact, nearly any occasion calls for this light, refreshing bubbly spirit.

Designed for individual use, these adorable champagne minis, help get the bubbles pop, pop, popping any where you go -

Moon Mass

MOON MASS one night only art party and exhibition:

Moon Mass
Exhibition and one-night celebration
123 Baxter (between Hester and Canal)
October 22, 2009 6-9pm

Most of us will probably never get to the moon. For all we know, the substance, matter and atmospheric gases amount to a whole lot of nothing. This exhibition is like the moon. It assembles probe-worthy components but unless you delve into each one, it can really seem about nothing at all. It's alchemy. We've turned nothing into something. Something brilliant. Something like the moon.

We love the moon.

The artists participating in the show are Kip Frace, Gabrielle Mangeri, Javier Orcaray and Andrea Taormina.

Music by Chunis (Flor Z & Pol Medina). Drinks! Free!!!

Happier Hour.

Summer is around the corner!! Happy hour can be a little more happier when you go low-cal.

Calorie Reducing Tips (via University of Rochester)

  • Try alternating alcoholic drinks with low calorie non-alcoholic drinks or water.
  • Ask for low calorie / diet mixers where possible.
  • Make your wine into a spritzer (a longer drink), or your lager into a shandy - both have fewer calories.
  • Substitute your "alcopop" for a shot of spirit and a low calorie mixer - about a quarter of the calories!
  • Plan your alcohol into your daily calorie quota so you can enjoy a glass or two. If you know you will be drinking during the weekend, try to save some calories each day in advance, so you can eat normally before you go out.
  • Don't be tempted to skip meals to allow for drinks, as alcohol won't satisfy your hunger. In fact, alcohol lowers blood sugar levels (it prevents sugar that is normally stored in the liver, as glycogen, from breaking down). A drop in blood sugar levels sends signals to the brain you are hungry. With alcohol in your system, willpower can go out of the window and the snack attacks kick in. Eating a proper meal before you go out will line your stomach and slow the rate at which alcohol absorbs into your bloodstream, keeping you in control of how much you eat and drink.
