On November 1st, Rouge 58 will present The Arche, a pop up boutique running for two weeks only, combining emerging talent and established designers in both fashion and jewelry. This inaugural installment will reflect the dark minimalism that has become an essential element of New York style. Playing on the industrial space of the gallery, clothes will be displayed suspended at different lengths from chains, whilst jewelry will be displayed hanging from a pillar in the middle of the store using satin ties and encased in a jewelry box.

The Arche is a collaboration between Nadja Nebas, owner of Rouge 58, and New York fashion photographer Chris Reed - the duo recognized what was lacking was an innovative platform to showcase brands respected by their community and recognized as influential in the underground scene. Adopting the word ‘arche’, referencing Greek philosophy that derives from the archaic period, it’s meaning lies in the root, the origin, the source. As a new pop up entity aimed to kickstart burgeoning young designers, the name was apt and held resonance.

NYC - Black for Rouge 58: Brother From Another Mother

You know that old adage - "behind every good man is an even better woman. " Well, in this case, it's great women with great men supporting us. When it comes to a community of creative women, there are certainly male friends and family who have helped support in many, many ways.

One of those guys happens to be my brother from another mother photographer Kareem Black. Kareem has a new photo exhibition in Brooklyn next week at Rouge 58.

"Inspired by Guy Bourdin, his most favored photographer, Kareem collaborated with acclaimed stylist Harold Melvin to creatively direct seven images reminiscent of one of the greatest advertising photographers of our time. Exclusively shot for Rouge 58 to coincide with New York Fashion Week, it echoes Bourdin’s legendary Exhibit A series, Kareem has aptly titled his series as Exhibit B, both as an homage to the photographer and a reference this own last name.

Coming from an industry obsessed with the face and eyes as the anchor of beauty and often a tool for celebrity, Kareem draws on Bourdin’s style; dark humor, awkward playfulness and even violent sexiness."

Williamsburg tapas outpost Bar Celona started garnering buzz before it opened in late 2009. The lounge is the first culinary venture of former fashion freelancer Cynthia Diaz. After working for the likes of Etro, Jill Stewart, lisli and others, Diaz ventured on to a new path. Bar Celona was born out of Diaz's love of fine food and wanting to create a space that would be a destination rather than a stop off; the moody and seductive interior helps Diaz achieve this goal.

Executive Chef Jordy Lavanderos' menu is a study in old meets new. Old school Spanish flavors are paired with new Dominican influences as evidenced in their braised oxtail and crispy, sweet bombas . Besides Bar Celona's mouthwatering tapas guests will enjoy artisanal cocktails conjured up by beverage consultants, The Tippling Bros. Lady Skate

An impressive lady of the New York skate scene is boutique owner Amy Gunther, guest speaker for Ladies Lotto New York's March meeting.

Her passion for the skate culture resulted in the opening of the skate spot KCDC in 2001, located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

The store is a well-know within the scene and skaters all over pay visits regularly to cop great brands such as Vans, WeSC and Insight, browse through the vast selection of boards or practice new tricks on the mini ramp inside the store.

In July last year KCDC launched their first signature shoe, a Chukka Low collaboration between KCDC, graffiti artist Neck Face and Vans.
