Since the app shows tattoos fresh from under the gun; it's as if you're right in the shop.

Bros Before Hos / Chicks Before Dicks

I can't help but laugh at these matching "bros before hos" tats (do believe it's Scott Campbell & Marc Jacobs). According to the Urban Dictionary, the term's connotation means screw your "jealous girlfriend, it's always cool to chill with your friends".

With that said, anyone down to get matching tats that read "chicks before dicks"?

Seattle Gets Honest with Ink

A warm thanks to Jacqueline Beach of Madame Lazonga's Tattoo in Seattle, the only female owned and staffed tattoo studio in the city! She spent the evening with LL Seattle members on her night off.

Upon hearing about our Ladies Lotto Benefit, Madame Lazonga's has generously donated a $200 gift certificate, original Vyvyn Lazonga Print, and t-shirt!

Thanks also goes out to Honest Tea for providing beverages and to Inked for copies of their mag.

Note to LL fashion designers out there... Jacqueline also mentioned that there are so many opportunities for designers to create classier dresses and competition wear for female artists and competitors showcasing their beautiful work while still looking classy.

When you're in Seattle, head down to the Pike Place Market and check out the historic and beautiful Madame Lazonga's and Vyvyn's girls!

A Decade Under the Influence of New York Adorned

Years ago, while tattooing was still illegal in New York (damn that Hep B!), Lori Leven strode into a tattoo shop and offered to do beer runs so she could hang around and learn about tattooing; but mostly to get some free ink. Through this somewhat unorthodox experience Lori was able to develop a keen eye for talent and what worked (or did not) in the world of tattooing. Later, Lori hooked up with Michelle Myles (Daredevil) and Andrea Elston to form NY Ink. They rented a 3-bedroom apartment on St. Mark's Place; put three artists in each room and got to work. From there on word of mouth spread like wild fire -- it was time to move on and expand.

Lori continued making waves in this largely male dominated field because of her determination and ability to score some of the best artistic talent on this side of the Mississippi. Today, Lori owns not one but two of New York City's finest tattoo shops; New York Adorned and its sister shop New York Adorned - Brooklyn, and reps 30 independent jewelry designers. Ladies Lotto's own Scosha's eponymous line is on sale at the stores and online.

On November 11th, Ladies Lotto gathered at New York Adorned's Brooklyn outpost to hear Lori's tales of gun toting parlor owners, jewelry store fronts and being a female pioneer in an ancient art. In addition to owning and operating the New York Adorned parlors, Lori consults for major brands including
Kiehl's; her sterling silver cap will be hitting the stores just in time for the holidays. Her jewelry can also be found at Ten Thousand Things in New York City's Meatpacking District.

Click here if you can't see the slideshow.

Talent practically oozes out of the staff at New York Adorned-Brooklyn. In addition to Lori, tattoo artists Stephanie Tamez and Virginia Elwood have projects going on outside of their "day job". After hearing and living many of the infamous New York Adorned stories, Stephanie has a book in the works -- chronicling ten years of the shop. Virginia Elwood is creating a sexy line of bicycle wear; something that looks just as good at a restaurant or party as it does when you're rocking a helmet and dinging that bell! Look out for Peddler at a store near you -- we'll keep you updated so you'll get the scoop. In the summer of 2008 the crew painted tattoos on eight-foot tall photographs at White Box in New York City. See Virginia's below:

The last few months of LLNY meetings have been incredibly successful and they keep getting better! Ladies Lotto would like to thank Lori Leven, Stephanie Tamez, Shanna Nash, Simone Brochard and Virginia Elwood for making this another amazing meeting! We're pretty sure LL ladies will be returning to get some ink and pick up a little something while they wait.

In addition to the tattoo salon they have a exhibition of skin art to you to enjoy and find interesting pieces. This display also present the work of Blue and Blue artists showing their talents in other media.
Introducing Idexa, one of seven talented female tattoo artists at Black and Blue Tattoo.
Idexa, a native of German that moved to San Francisco in 1991.
To Idexa tattooing means of self-transformation through art. For her the art of tattooing is a way of making the outside of the body look more the way it feels from the inside. Idexa is especially interested in tattoo as a personal and spiritual experience. She has a individual and unique style. Her customers agree that Idexa is appreciated for her attention to detail and customer’s individual needs.
Idexa’s talent and creativity is known internationally. She is a versatile tattoo artist. Her speciality is within black work, geometric patterns, scientific imagery and organically inspired designs. Idexa has worked in a variety of formats but finds working on skin the most satisfying, as only tattooing allows her to work with the unique forms of each body.
Her area of focus when it comes to tattoos is a technique called branding. Branding with the electrocautery method is when you uses a pen-like tool containing a red-hot, exchangeable tip. This technique has a higher accuracy: One traces the design over a stencil, similarly to tattooing. This technique is the most exact, and offers the most control, to do a consistent depth and width of burn.

A Rush & A Push

Oh boy. Looks like the marketing department at Moz's label went from selling the product to selling the consumer. Here's an ad exploiting a very serious subculture (have you ever been to a show!?) in an effort to boost sales for his latest Greatest Hits album.

Well, what else are you going to do with that tattoo?
