David Ellis: Dozens at Roebling Hall

Roebling Hall is pleased to present it's first solo exhibition of new work by New York-based artist David Ellis, entitled Dozens. The title of this exhibition, taken from the slang "playing the dozens" to describe good-natured verbal sparing, is more than just a piece of poetic musing. David Ellis does, in fact, make trash talk, or at least makes it sound funky and he uses language and cadence as integral parts of his art making. Weaving rhythm, cultural landscape, conceptual art, a variety of collaborators and a myriad assortment of materials, Ellis's art evokes both the participatory spirit of Allan Kaprow- watch and see what happens- and the mechanical wonderment of Jean Tinguely.

SLIDELUCK POTSHOW XI @ Chelsea Art Museum

THE WORLD’S MOST CELEBRATED SLIDESHOW AND POTLUCK DINNER RETURNS TO NEW YORK!

SLIDELUCK POTSHOW to be held in conjunction with The Armory Show on Saturday, March 29th, 2008, at the Chelsea Art Museum

Slideluck Potshow is a slideshow and a potluck where people bring food, drink, and submit a maximum of 5 minutes worth of slides (it's not a requirement). The evening begins with a couple hours of dining on the home-cooked delights of participants, while drinking and mingling. Following the potluck, the lights are dimmed, the crowd is hushed, and a spectacular slideshow commences.

Slideluck Potshow was founded in the backyard of advertising and editorial photographer, Casey Kelbaugh, in 2000. Today he and Co-Director Alys Kenny are organizing 3 events a year in NYC as well as in about 30 cities globally, including Berlin, Mexico City, Bogotá, London, Milan, São Paulo, Chicago, Barcelona, and Copenhagen. SLPS Los Angeles III is also happening on March 29th, and the LA event will be streamed in NYC and vice versa.

Saturday, March 29, 2008, from 7pm until 11pm. The potluck begins at 7pm and the slideshow begins at 8:30pm and ends at 10:30pm with one intermission.

The Chelsea Art Museum, 556 West 22nd St, New York, NY, 10011.
