Light and Free Summer

The past few days we have been living in nothing but a complete heat wave. You don’t want to put on any make up because all it will do is melt down the side of your face. The only place that are safe is, school, work, and your home. We can’t say the train because the stations are nothing but a sauna. So how are you supposed to get dressed for weather like this when you still have to look presentable at work?

Light & Free SummerFashion Trends & Styles - Polyvore

Lights, whites and brights, unless you dare to go bare. The smart thing to do when we go through these times of non stop heat and sun is to wear first and foremost light clothing. Meaning cotton and linen are your best friends. You should wear something that won’t stick to your body and cause a big sweat stain. Nothing worse than meeting a new client with pit sweat. Also keep in mind to come casual enough to work, but flexible to enjoy the sun after. Leaving a cardigan or a blazer at work is always a plus.

Bright colors always help not only put you in a more cheerful mood, but it also helps go against the sun. If you decide to wear black it attracts the sunlight and will only make you hotter. As for articles of clothing that should be worn, shorts and rompers are a must. You can wear shorts, but nothing that are inappropriate for work. Something loose fit and that falls just above the knees, mid thigh works. When it’s too tight, it comes across as the wrong idea. These shorts should be partnered up with a nice button down shirt or loose shirt. As for the rompers, which are usually seen strapless or with spaghetti strings, these are the items that you save the blazer and/or cardigan for. Never forget the skirts and dresses. These pieces are easy to transform from day to night. Using the same blazer or cardigan saved in the office to give it the 9 to 5 look. However once off, you are ready for a few drinks with the girls or a date out on the town.

Stay safe and hydrated ladies!

Summer Loving Forecast

Photo via grahamatical (Flickr)

A few days ago I saw the Grease Sing-A-Long at Pier 70 in NYC. So, I got to thinking about summer loving. Who's going to be the Danny Zuko to my Sandy Olsen this season? I was pretty sure Ladies Lotto member and astro-sexologist Kiki T., had all the answers.

According to Kiki, the forecast for Sagittarians looks a little something like this:

Sagittarius (November 22- December 21)
Start a new spiritual journey that has you getting deeper in touch with your most intimate relationships and discover a few more g-spots than you first counted.

This sounds very promising.

Killer Shoes Not Killing the Piggy Bank

As women the one thing we live for are shoes. Kitten heels, platforms, flats, and stilettos. Whatever your poison is, we tend to kill our piggy banks in the process. Now more than ever heels are taking over the fashion world. The crazy styles, colors, and of course the inches they seem to add to the heel.

Below are some of the major styles that are in for the season that are under $200. Some styles to look into for classic shoes including the infamous double platform heels.

Summer HeelsFashion Trends & Styles - Polyvore

Bebe Shoes Berwin – Natural $170 - heels.com
Jeffrey Campbell JACKIE DP $155 -

ASOS TASCA Suede Lace-Up Wedge Boots $93 -

ASOS ALICE Leather Pleat Denim Boot $186 -

Velvet Angels Women's Audax Open Wedge Platform Sandal: Shoes $126 -

80%20 Women's Molly Tea Party Boot $116 -

Marciano Lia Heel - Grey Multi Suede $192 -

Betsey Johnson Astra $120 - piperlime.gap.com

The double platform heels are your best friend, even though they may look like they are made to kill someone. Yes, the heels are deceiving, making you believe the shoes have a higher arch then they really do. The booties are always cute; however you have to be smart on your selection. It’s important to get a pair of booties that aren’t made up of heavy fabric or else it is too wintry. The 80%20 booties (first shoe on second row) are perfect because it is made out of a light fabric, the colors are cool for the season and it has ventilation for the feet. There isn’t much explanation needed when it comes to the sandals, or the basic heel.

Ladies just remember you don’t have to kill your piggy bank to kill every other girl when you’re out. Search and you will find. Looking for more heels for a bargain, check out some other sites like karmaloop, endless, and asos - just to name a few.
