LLadies Fashion Scoop: Spolight on Bloomingdales for FNO

In 1973, Bloomingdale's capitalized on young and trendy following by embroidering the name "Bloomie's" on the ladies’ panties as part of their intimate apparel launch. Today, Bloomingdales is still the hot spot trendsetters and tastemakers to fill up their “Brown Bags.” On FNO, they are all about the personal appearances. If you are crunched for time and need some one-stop-shopping and designer hobnobbing, then you can’t go wrong at good ‘ol Bloomies.

Let’s hear it for the boys! Join GQ magazine and HBO’s new series Boardwalk Empire for the Men's Suiting Event: Bloomingdale’s and HBO will recreate Boardwalk Empire’s 1920’s Atlantic City theme at the 59th Street store. The live action windows along 3rd Avenue will emulate Atlantic City’s 1920s boardwalk with elaborate sets from the show and special appearances by the actors in the HBO series. Inside the store on the lower level, will be a casino, courtesy of Harrah’s from Atlantic City. Boardwalk Empire’s actors will also make appearances in the casino that night. (Floor/Lower Level from 6 – 8pm)


Get in on the action at the Ping Pong game! Designer Fred Perry sponsors a private room at SPiN and will recreate the room at Bloomingdale’s for a table tennis tournament among designers, celebrities, and fashion journalists. Confirmed table tennis players: Sam Shipley and Jeff Halmos, Spurr and Tommy Fazio, Eunice Lee, Unis designer, Byron Pert and Dexter Pert, WANT designers, Derek Buse, Greg Lawrence, James Gunther, and Luis Fernandez, Number Lab designers, Adam Rappaport, GQ Style Editor, George McCracken, Pierre-Henri Mattout, Doug Burkman and Ben Burkman, Kevin Harter, VP Bloomingdale’s, and more. Smile for the Polaroid Wall – Designer Eunice Lee of Unis will snap polaroids of customers that evening and place them on Polaroid Fashion Walls.


Hungry? Shipley & Halmos will arrive at Bloomingdale’s 59th Street in an ice cream truck and will sell ice cream treats that night with proceeds going toward their charity.

You’re never to young for fashion! Children’s Museum of the Arts leads a fashion-guided workshop in celebration of Fashion’s Night Out.
