Modern Mamahood: Is Sophie the Giraffe Worth the Hype?

Sophie the Giraffe was created by French manufacturer Vulli over 60 years ago. Amazon users, 671 of them as of this moment, give this toy an average of 4.5 out of 5 stars. Is Sophie worth the hype?
Mamas love Sophie because she's made out of non-toxic, natural rubber instead of toxin laden plastic. And let's admit, we can't deny her adorable vintage appeal.
Babies love Sophie because this is the perfect toy for those under 6-months: squeaky sound, limbs and antlers that are perfect for teething and the rubbery smell and contrasting spots are easy to identify and remember. As our little ones grow, Sophie remains a staple in the toy box as they learn to play.
This doe-eyed giraffe doesn't come cheap at almost $20. However, I don't know about you, but nothing gets me more excited about a toy than word of mouth referrals, tons of media coverage, and a solution for a teething baby that doesn't read MADE IN CHINA. Needless to say, we own a Sophie, and we love her.
