Not to freak you out and make you stockpile the leftover rice from takeout, but...

Some reports are starting to show that, not only are we running out of oil, but we are running out of food.
Some of the same problems haunting the earth as a whole (polluted or limited water, changing temperatures) and some of the misguided solutions (ethanol) are threatening the food supply. Farmers in Thailand are having to guard their rice with guns, food riots are starting, and in good ole' USA, Sam's Club starting limiting purchases of rice.
