FDA Approves New Pill Giving Us More Choices



The FDA approved ELLA a contraceptive that can prevent pregnancy as many as 5 days after having sex. It took the committee approximately 2 months to approve the medicine which is already used in 22 countries around the globe. Ella follows the approval of Plan B which is less effective.

36 Years Ago


36 years ago today, the United States Supreme Court settled a case resulting in a landmark decision allowing for the legalization of abortion. The decision was based on right to privacy under the Due Clause of the 14th Amendment and overturned state & federal laws effectively ensuring women have the right to determined what's best for themselves (duh).

Nevertheless, it's still a polemic issue but as President Obama stated in his inauguration address, "we come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics."
