High hopes & new horizons lead Ad Deville and Ali Ha with their latest space Factory Fresh; aiming to push the boundaries within the art world, with an emphasis on contemporary street art and graffiti. Factory Fresh opened up in June 2008. Previously Ali Ha ran Orchard Street Art Gallery together with her partner in crime, Ad Deville. Factory Fresh contributes to the artistic and creative spirits of the neighborhood of East Williamsburg Industrial Park. An area where the majorities of the inhabitants are artists, musicians or have some creative profession.
Besides industrial buildings, loft houses and old factories the area is characterized by graffiti and street art. The location of Fresh Factory is perfect, and great fit with the area. Their art openings are fun with DJs spinning and beer drinking in the backyard of Fresh Factory.
This Friday, October 10th, Factory Fresh opens up two exhibitions in their gallery space. In the front room:
Quality of Life
A group exhibition by Jake Dobkin, Luna Park, Sam Horine, and Street Stars.The show examines marginalized, forgotten, and neglected spaces in the city, as well as the graffiti, garbage, decay and people found within these spaces.
In the new back room:
Rearranger Studios Presents A Gaetane Michaux Production: Bushwick Yourself!
Combining ready-made images, and custom-made puzzles, Gaëtane creates new possibilities and adjacencies. Movie posters, street art, street artists, family and friends have all fallen victim to her x-acto blade, only to have their pieces mixed up with those of others, and put back together again, finding themselves completely puzzled.
Factory Fresh is located at 1053 Flushing Avenue between Morgan and Knickerbocker, off the L train Morgan Stop.
