WIP-Lightside Individual Project Grant

Women in Photography has got some sweet stuff going on right now:

WIPNYC has announced the WIP-Lightside Individual Project Grant, sponsored by Lightside/LTI. The $3,000 grant will provide funding to one woman photographer to support project costs, based on visual & conceptual strength, rigor of purpose, and clarity of stated project goals.

The call for entries opens April 1, 2009, 12 am and ends on May 1, 2009, 12 am. Go to the wipnyc.org for more information and to begin the application process.

In other WIPNYC news, they have officially joined the Humble Arts Foundation family. WIPNYC launched June 2008 as an outlet for women photographers to exhibit work outside the traditional model of the commercial art world. It's designed to be a resource for photographers, editors, curators, gallery owners, and viewers to discover and enjoy the work of women artists. As an internet-based project, the site reaches a global audience. Exhibitions are co-curated by Amy Elkins & Cara Philips. HAFNY was established in 2005 by amani olu and Jon Feinstein, and is a not-for-profit organization that works to advance the careers of emerging fine-art photographers by way of exhibition and publishing opportunities, limited-edition print sales, twice–annual artists grants, and educational programming.
