Second Life in NY

An Emergent Second Life shows tomorrow at the gallery Jack the Pelican Presents and at the Brooklyn is Watching sim in the virtual world Second Life.

An Emergent Second Life is a Paper Tiger TV production about self-making and world-building in the virtual world Second Life, AND it's created by Jason Pine (Purchase College - SUNY), Bianca Ahmadi (The New School and an LL Member!) and Juan Rubio (The New School).
Brooklyn is Watching is an experimental cross-world art exhibition and criticism venue that connects a public art exhibition region in the virtual world Second Life with a Real World gallery in Williamsburg, called Jack the Pelican Presents. Art works that are installed in the virtual space are visible on a 52-inch flat screen in the real-life gallery space in Williamsburg. Viewers can visit, via their avatars, the virtual space or, in the flesh, stop by Jack the Pelican Presents in Williamsburg to view the virtual artwork on the flat screen.

An Emergent Second Life
will be available for viewing for one week after the screening.

Art is something that is really completely out of the ordinary for me.. It is the flame that puts out the shame and heartache that my day went through. It is a beautiful thing. Yet at the same time it can mind boggle a soul into thinking something completely different. What I love bout art, is that you envision your own meaning behind the creativity of the art itself. Your imagination can take you many places and only in your imagination can you be in two happy places at once :)
