Zip It

Owning a car is a luxury in a bustling city where parking is scarce, space at a garage can cost as much as your monthly rent and insurance premiums are sky high. Enter Zipcar, the world's largest car share service. You can rent a car for as little, or as long as you want; with convenient pick up locations all over the city.

Zipcar has been supporting local events and charities since its inception. Currently, New York City residents can bid on a membership and driving credit package to benefit
Charity Water.

Clean drinking water is a necessity, not a luxury.

Or you can search for a local car share provider where you live. There are over 30 of them in North America, and many are nonprofit--- and they have better rates than Zipcar. These smaller providers not only invest more in their local communities, but are part of the public good in their areas. Why support an international for profit corporation when you can get better service while supporting your city's long-term transit options?
