The Portrait Project

Family photos are precious and memorable to everyone. It reminds us of our loved ones and times together. New mum and photographer Dayna Camp has ,since her newborn came to this world, spend a lot of reflecting about the importance of photographs and memories.

When spending time behind the camera with her son she contemplated about the impact of these photos to her grandchildren and other family members. In this process she realized that not everyone shares this simple joy. It was then she felt the need to combine her passion for photography along with her appreciation of "family".
The Portrait Project was born.

Dayna Camps ambition with this beautiful project is to provide homeless families with a family portrait. Her goal is to spread this wonderful feeling of having a family and remember it through all stages of life. A picture reminds you of things you have or once had. Family bonds are essential for everyone, its precious and should be valued.

November 1 homeless families from various NYC city shelters gathered this fall day in Central Park to have their family portrait taken by Dayna Camp. Each family received a framed 5 x7 family portrait as well prints of each child's individual photo.

This sounds like a really nice thing to do. Does anybody know if she has a website where I can donate?

I just watched the news story about Dayna on ABC World News and am a photographer in the LA area that would love to help bring her project here. Is there a way I can contact Dayna?

I want to get this started in the Raleigh/Durham, NC area. What do I do? I may just go for it myself and link to Dayna. I am a photographer and this is a fabulous idea.
