LL Seattle Meeting: Yum!

The fine ladies of Seattle engaged in a wonderful excursion with a "local" flavor in an urban kitchen adjacent to the famous Pike Place Market.

Diane LaVonne is a fantastic teacher, storyteller, and host. After facing so much adversity in her life, she's grown a successful business sharing her knowledge of sustainable food, and helping local wineries and food providers local targeted exposure. Diane is inspirational, full of techniques, (who knew it was so easy to make clams with white wine, thyme and butter?) info on ingredients, and extremely generous. We were greeted with a glass of wine, warm blue cheese and pecan crisps, olives, cheese and pellegrino. She offered us tastes of virgin olive oil, truffle salt, white vinegar, two local wines by Washington winery, Walter Dacon (Syrah is AMAZING!), and we began our journey in learning about local foods and farmers, and how to make simple but amazing dishes.

Recipes covered (and made by LL!)...
Baked brie with madras curry and cashews
Sauteed Pear, goat cheese, arugala on flatbread
