The Newberry exhibit, Artifacts of Childhood: 700 years of Children's Books, features 65 children's books and includes a first edition of the Grimm collection in English. The two brothers published the collection of German folk tales as a scholarly exercise. The exhibit also includes a first illustrated edition of Aesop's fables from 1485 and a 17th century handwriting manual used by Princess Elizabeth Stuart of Scotland. The exhibit runs through Jan. 17 at Chicago's Newberry Library .
