As seen on today's Ideal Bite tip:
Got #5 plastics, but no one on the NY recycling team to take 'em? Give Brooklyn's Park Slope Food Co-op some skin for partnering up with Recycline to turn your #5s (just check the recycle triangle on the bottom) into colorful tableware, toothbrushes, and even razors. (Dairy addicts rejoice: Most yogurt cups are #5s.) In addition to accepting your dropped-off #5s, PSFC will also take #4s that NYC won't, including lids and caps; the city currently accepts only #1, #2, and some #4 plastics (containers with necks smaller than the body). Just take 'em to the designated drop spot (see below), and give would-be junk that'd otherwise go to landfills a slap.
Park Slope Food Coop 782 Union St. b/t 6th and 7th Aves., Brooklyn (718-622-0560).
Monthly drop-off times: second Sat., 10 a.m.-2 p.m.; third Thursdays, 7 p.m-9 p.m.; last Sunday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
