Remembering a King

Taken from our RIOTTT.COM for the Worship Worthy Squad Blog:

Today is the 40th anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr's assassination. Although he ceases to exist in the physical, his dreams are an everyday reality for us. MLK, Jr was considered to be an "Anti-American" as he believed America was going to "burn in hell." Curious to know that he was an anti-capitalist and a democratic socialist. Something your school probably skipped over. He emphasized in going beyond the individual, in the importance of community.

We want to say thank you to a true seer. He has played a huge role in every living person today and has made an overwhelming impact on the communities in which we belong. With Ladies Lotto, we are so many things, but most importantly a celebration of community, support and creativity that stems within allying ourselves with others who share a unique and forward thinking vision. Not only do we answer to our individual desires but are held accountable to the community of ladies, to the community of our neighborhoods, our state, our countries and all of humanity to which we belong.

An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.
Martin Luther King, Jr.

A moment of silence to all those who dare to dream and inspire others to do so as well. Another moment of silence for MLK JR for helping us make those dreams come true.
